Methodologies

When conducting research or engaging in assessment processes, Morten Group employs two major philosophies - a participatory action model for data collection and an asset-based model for data analysis.

Participatory action supports the robust collection of data through the dynamic engagement of a variety of individuals invested in the project process. This model helps us understand the opinions and experiences of a large number of people at multiple levels. Data collection tools are varied and tailored to fit the questions asked of project stakeholders.

Asset-based refers to a method of data analysis that focuses on strengths and assets, rather than ‘weaknesses.’ Through this model, we can lift up our client- partners’ positive qualities and promising practices, before exploring how we can leverage those strengths to address any organizational challenges that are revealed during the data collection and analysis process.
